FPL Gameweek 8 – head-to-head comparisons: Diogo Jota vs Phil Foden

It has been quite the week so far for Liverpool's Diogo Jota (£6.4m), with the summer signing from Wolves coming off the bench to score the winner for the Reds in Gameweek 7 against West Ham. He then followed that up with a start and a scintillating hat-trick in Liverpool's 0-5 demolition of Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League midweek. Whilst Phil Foden (£6.6m) didn't make quite the impact Jota did in midweek, the young Man City midfielder still put on a fine performance albeit with no attacking returns against Olympiakos. This was after Foden started on the bench in Gameweek 7 for City away at Sheffield Utd.

Gameweek 8 sees these two stars collide as Man Utd and Liverpool face off at the Etihad Stadium. This fixture holds fond memories for Foden, who scored against the Reds in this game last season. Question marks will had as to whether these two will start this game. However, Jota is in the form of his life and it would prove a harsh call from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp not to start him after his midweek hat-trick. When taking into account his form and cheaper price tag, not to mention his impact from the bench, it's Jota who wins out for us in this head-to-head.

Verdict: Diogo Jota
