FPL Gameweek 5 – head-to-head comparisons: Diogo Jota vs Edinson Cavani
It was a nightmare first Premier League start in a Liverpool shirt for Diogo Jota (£6.3m) as the former Wolves man failed to make any impact for his side as they crashed to a humiliating 7-2 defeat away at Aston Villa. Meanwhile, Anthony Martial was sent off for Man Utd in their equally humbling 1-6 loss at home to Spurs and this leads to an opportunity going forward for new signing Edinson Cavani (£8.0m) to make an immediate impact.
Gameweek 5 sees Liverpool travel to Everton in the Merseyside derby, whilst Man Utd are away at Newcastle. Jota is likely to start this one from the bench with Mane expected to come back into the side following the expiration of his self-isolation period following a positive COVID-19 test. In the absence of Martial for United, Cavani could start for the Red Devils providing he is deemed fit enough and COVID rules allow him to, and with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking for his side to bounce back in the strongest possible way, we're predicting the Uruguayan international to mark his debut with at least one attacking return and prove himself going forward as a viable FPL asset.
Verdict: Edinson Cavani
