FPL Gameweek 5 – head-to-head comparisons: Alex McCarthy vs Emiliano Martinez
Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy (£4.5m) secured his first clean sheet of the season in Gameweek 4, making three saves and accruing nine FPL points in the Saints' 2-0 win over West Brom. Whilst Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez (£4.6m) didn't keep a clean sheet, he did make six saves in a stunning 7-2 win for his side over Premier League champions Liverpool.
Gameweek 5 sees Southampton travel to Chelsea, whilst Aston Villa are away at Leicester. A tricky match for both goalkeepers, Villa have looked stronger at the back over the course of the season so far, having kept two clean sheets in their first three games and against a Leicester side who failed to score in their last home match at the King Power Stadium, Martinez marginally edges this head-to-head for us.
