FPL managers watched with interest as midfielder Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) was deployed upfront in Crystal Palace's 1-0 win over Southampton. Zaha scored the only goal of the game and could have had more on the break. Also impressing in Gameweek 1 was new Everton signing James Rodriguez (£7.5m). The Colombian superstar didn't register an attacking return but looked classy throughout with a notable threat in the Toffees' deserved 0-1 win away at Spurs.
Zaha and Palace face a difficult trip to Man Utd in Gameweek 2, whilst Rodriguez and Everton welcome newly promoted West Brom to Goodison Park. Whilst Rodriguez is priced at £0.5m more expensive than Zaha, the easier fixture combined with how good Everton looked last weekend, makes him the slightly better option here.
Verdict: James Rodriguez
