Spurs saw their Gameweek 16 fixture over Fulham called off late on due to an outbreak of Covid-19 within the Fulham camp, which meant that midfielder Heung-Min Son (£9.7m) could not pick up any points for his significantly high FPL ownership. Meanwhile at Old Trafford, influential midfielder Bruno Fernandes (£11.2m) left it late but eventually delivered his eighth Premier League assist of the season in second half stoppage time, as Man Utd beat Wolves 1-0.

United are at home again in Gameweek 17, with Aston Villa the visitors to Manchester. Spurs will welcome Leeds to North London with the Whites having conceded 30 league goals already this season, but with signs of improvement following two successive clean sheets. Both fixtures stand out from an FPL perspective, but when comparing the form of both players, one stands out in particular. Son's last three fixtures (not including the postponed match vs Fulham) has seen him pick up just one goal, no assists and 14 FPL points. Within the same time period, Fernandes has managed three goals, three assists and 35 FPL points. When taking this into account, we have to favour the Man Utd midfielder over Son in Gameweek 17.

Verdict: Bruno Fernandes
