FPL Gameweek 13 - head-to-head comparisons: Sergio Aguero vs Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Both these premium strikers have recently gone through something of a drought by their own high standards. Man City's mercurial talisman Sergio Aguero (£12.0m) has scored only one goal in the last six gameweeks, whilst Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) has one goal in his last five league starts. Both players combined have accrued only 27 FPL points in the last five gameweeks, not the sort of return you'd expect from a pair of players who cost a combined £23.0m to own.

Gameweek 13 following the international break sees Man City face Chelsea at the Etihad. This fixture last season saw Aguero score a hat-trick so owners have reason to be optimistic providing the Argentine isn't left on the bench in favour of Brazilian Gabriel Jesus. Aubameyang's Arsenal face Southampton at home in a fixture that should have the newly-elected Gunners captain licking his lips. Whilst both players will appeal to FPL managers, Aubameyang's £1.0m cheaper price tag and the guarantee that the Gabonese international will start the game sees us sway towards him over Aguero.

Verdict: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
