FPL Gameweek 10 – head-to-head comparisons: Danny Ings vs Joshua King

Two of the better-performing budget strikers, Danny Ings (£5.9m) and Joshua King (£6.3m) had contrasting fortunes in Gameweek 9. While Ings continued his impressive goalscoring form by netting his fifth goal in his last four matches (in all competitions), King strangely found himself relegated to the bench and only saw 28 minutes of game-time during which he mustered just a single point. Given Bournemouth's failure to score against a leaky Norwich defence, it's highly likely King's hiatus will only be for the one week.

Southampton face Leicester next as Ings looks to keep his goalscoring run going. The Foxes boast one of the better defensive records in the league having only conceded eight goals so far this season. They have, however, only kept one clean sheet, illustrating they do tend to give up the occasional chance to their opposition.

Bournemouth meanwhile face bottom-of-the-table Watford. The Hornets have the joint worst defensive record in the league having conceded 21 goals already this season, though it should be mentioned that eight of these came in a single game against Man City. King also has an excellent record against Watford having scored five times in ten appearances, including two goals in the equivalent fixture last season.

Verdict: Joshua King
