FPL Gameweek 1 – head-to-head comparisons: Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Andy Robertson
The two flying Liverpool full-backs come under the radar once again in 2020-21 as we weigh up who the better FPL option is in Gameweek One as the Reds host Leeds at Anfield. Right-back Trent Alexander Arnold (£7.5m) was the highest scoring FPL defender last season with 210 points. With corners and free-kicks falling under his domain, the England international managed four goals and 15 assists to go with the 14 clean sheets accrued with him in the side.
Scottish left-back Andy Robertson (£7.0m) did not reach the numbers of Alexander-Arnold, but his statistics were impressive in their own right. Two goals, 12 assists and 13 clean sheets saw him reach a tally of 181 FPL points. He is also priced at £0.5m cheaper so you could find some value in his selection. However, despite being the more expensive defender, it's impossible to look beyond Alexander-Arnold here. With his threat going forward, equalling his clean sheet potential, he is well worth the extra £0.5m and should be a starter in the majority of FPL squads in this coming season.
Verdict: Trent Alexander-Arnold
