FPL season comparisons – Sergio Aguero vs Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

A battle between two genuine striking heavyweights that has lasted the course of the entire season: Man City's Sergio Aguero and Arsenal Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have once again starred for their clubs in front of goal, finding the net consistently to reward FPL managers who have paid a premium price for one if not both of their services.

Aguero currently sits on 16 Premier League goals for the season despite only playing 1394 minutes. With four assists thrown in as well, the Argentinian currently sits on 124 FPL points so far this campaign and only three goals behind the leading Premier League goal-scorer at present, Jamie Vardy.

Aubameyang has fared even better with 17 goals this season, albeit with one less assist than Aguero. The Gabon international has gained 152 FPL points this season, with the Arsenal captain consistently relied upon by his teammates for goals in what has been a tough season for the Gunners.

However, Aubameyang has played 2303 minutes this season which is just under 1000 more than Aguero, and the Arsenal man has just the one goal more. This stat puts into perspective just how well Aguero has done and perhaps indicates how many more goals Aguero could be on if the two had played the same amount of minutes. So for us, Aguero has had the better FPL season despite the numbers not quite reflecting that.

Verdict: Sergio Aguero
