FPL – head-to-head comparisons: Aymeric Laporte vs Virgil van Dijk

The main centre half for Manchester City and Liverpool respectively, Aymeric Laporte (£6.5m) and Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) cost a very reasonable £6.5m in 2019-20. Laporte in particular represents a rarity for a Pep Guardiola player; namely someone who is practically rotation proof. Both will keep multiple clean sheets next season, in addition to offering the occasional attacking threat, but it is Van Dijk who just shades Laporte in the statistics. More clean sheets, more attacking return, more points per appearance and a much more attractive opening three fixtures make the Liverpool man the more attractive option.
