With the likelihood of Danny Ings starting against Leicester in DGW19, Che Adams (£6.0m) could be called upon to lead the Saints’ line in an emotionally important match for Ralph Hasenhuttl. Southampton’s manager was in tears after their recent, fiercely earned victory over Liverpool and will likely be even more eager to beat the side that almost cost him his reputation last season in a 0-9 drubbing at St. Mary’s. Che Adams did not play against Liverpool and will be well-rested at least for this one, although if Ings does not make the matchday squad the Saints’ offence will be severely weakened.
For this reason, Timo Werner (£9.2m) gets our nod despite drawing three successive blanks in the Premier League and not scoring since Gameweek 8. The German’s low confidence could have been improved with a goal in Chelsea’s FA Cup tier against Morecambe last weekend but he may not start both games this double gameweek and has yet to convince. Ings would be picked over Werner, but Werner should score more points in two games than Che Adams does in one.
