Man City pair Phil Foden (£6.3m) and Raheem Sterling (£11.4m) had contrasting fortunes at home to Brighton in Gameweek 18. Foden started back-to-back games for the first time since the opening few weeks of the season and scored his second-successive double-figure haul with a well-taken goal, whilst Sterling was rested and missed a penalty shortly after coming on.
Both on four goals for the season, Foden has much better numbers overall considering he has played almost half the minutes of Sterling but therein lies the problem with picking Foden here. A good-looking double-header at home against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa should see both players grab an attacking return of some shape but the likelihood of Foden starting both games is slim and Sterling’s 8 minutes on Wednesday night suggests Pep Guardiola wants him fresh for DGW19. Both are excellent options here, and if you can only afford Foden he is certainly a steal at £6.3m, but Sterling should see more minutes on the field and has been linking up well with Kevin De Bruyne in recent weeks.
Verdict: Raheem Sterling
