Joao Cancelo (£5.8m) has seen his ownership rise in recent weeks after cementing his place in Pep Guardiola’s Man City side. The Portuguese wing-back has started each of the last seven league matches, earning five clean sheets in that time whilst threatening to start bagging a couple of attacking returns too. He is a full £1.5m cheaper than Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.3m) at the time of writing and looks to have the easier time of it coming up.
Whilst Liverpool have been stuttering offensively, they have been solid enough at the back despite extensive injuries. Normally top of the Defenders’ list by now, Alexander-Arnold has just two assists and three clean sheets to his name right now due in some part to his own lay-off and the Reds’ unsettled performances. Back-to-back home matches against Man Utd and Burnley offer some chances for Trent but there is no looking past Man City’s recent defensive form and Cancelo’s significantly cheaper price.
