Back-to-back blanks for Kevin De Bruyne (£11.9m) see his FPL fortunes very much aligned with the performance of his Man City team but he at least is one of Pep Guardiola’s more nailed-on options as we enter the busy festive period. It is the opposite side of the coin for Spurs’ Heung-Min Son (£9.6m) who has only blanked in five of his 13 matches played this season and has made four attacking returns in his last three games.

The nature of Ralph Hassenhutl’s Southampton makes De Bruyne’s trip down South look a little dangerous, especially as the Saints were the winners of this fixture back in July. At more than 60% ownership, it seems a little obvious to pick Son here but the highest-scoring player in the game is showing no signs of slowing down and a fixture against Leicester, who look rather porous, makes him an interesting captaincy option. Brendan Rodgers has a miserable record against his old master Jose Mourinho, to increase Son’s potential in Gameweek 14.

Verdict: Heung-Min Son
