FPL Gameweek 10 – head-to-head comparisons: Nick Pope vs Edouard Mendy
This is a bit of a non-starter for Gameweek 10 between Nick Pope (£5.4m) and Edouard Mendy (£5.1m), although both goalkeepers should be up against it in their matches against Manchester City and Tottenham, respectively. Both players claimed a clean sheet in their last matches but Chelsea’s Mendy has kept four since his introduction to the Premier League in Gameweek 3 and Pope just three so far over eight matches played.
Mendy was unfortunate not to keep his former club Rennes out in their Tuesday night Champions League clash and has been a big component of this new, sturdier Chelsea defence. The Blues’ stopper is one of the main reasons Chelsea currently own the top two highest-scoring Defenders in FPL and he will be hard to beat when Spurs visit on Sunday. Pope, on the other hand, should suffer a day to forget against City, who have scored 17 goals against the Clarets in their last four meetings over all competitions. Mendy is the better of two options here and cheaper going forward.
Verdict: Edouard Mendy
