Steve Beaton produced an excellent first-round display to overcome the considerable challenge of Fallon Sherrock on Sunday and the manner in which he played in the early stages of that match was particularly impressive. Kim Huybrechts, meanwhile, has shown some signs lately that he may coming out of a lean spell as he reached the quarter-finals of the World Series of Darts Finals in October, which marked his first last-eight appearance in a major singles event since the 2017 UK Open. He will no doubt be feeling more confident about his game then, but after surviving such a high-profile first-round match, Beaton could really hit his stride here. This could go all the way and a winner is difficult to call, but Huybrechts may just have enough to advance to the third round.
