Former BDO World Championship runner-up Jim Williams’ debut in the PDC equivalent went according to plan on Saturday as he took advantage of an under-par Ted Evetts but he will likely need to raise his game significantly if he is to trouble Joe Cullen. ‘The Rockstar’ enjoyed his best run at Alexandra Palace last year when he reached the fourth round but he certainly has the potential to go further if he can bring his floor game to the stage. He did just that at the European Championship in October when he reached the semi-finals, and if he produces the same standard here he should see off Williams, who by his own admission has not prepared well enough for this event.
