THE PREDICTION
Florian Hempel won an all-German first-round affair with Martin Schindler on Sunday in relatively comfortable fashion and he now goes up against a player fancied to go far in the tournament. Van den Bergh has twice been a quarter-finalist at Ally Pally and has reached the final of both the World Matchplay and the World Series of Darts Finals in 2021. The Belgian is undoubtedly the favourite here but ex-handball player Florian Hempel should not be underestimated as the 31-year-old has averaged 94.31 over the course of the season. He could well nick a set, but a 3-1 victory for Van den Bergh is the prediction.
