THE PREDICTION
Two relatively unheralded qualifiers do battle here in what will be a debut for both players on the Alexandra Palace stage. Barstow narrowly missed out on a PDC Tour Card back in January but has been able to fill in for absent players throughout the year and has recorded some notable scalps along the way, including wins over the likes of Jose de Sousa and Brendan Dolan. His opponent, John Norman Jnr, qualified through the CDC Canadian Tour and is largely untested at this level if you put aside his stints with the BDO. Barstow has done enough this year to show that he can play to a high level and a second-round match with Michael van Gerwen beckons should he play to his potential here.
