THE PREDICTION
After taking the scalp of Michael van Gerwen in an ill-tempered first-round contest, Danny Noppert saw off another fellow Dutchman in the second round as he eased to a 3-0 victory over Vincent van der Voort. Noppie was clinical on his finishing doubles especially and looks to be playing with great confidence as he prepares for his third televised quarter-final since joining the PDC. His opponent, Ian White, progressed in vastly different circumstances as the 51-year-old produced an excellent comeback from two sets down to defeat Darius Labanauskas in a deciding leg. Diamond made a poor start to the match but kicked into gear when he needed to most and the way in which he closed things out against the Lithuanian is bound to have given him a lift in confidence ahead of this game. However, White has often faltered in the latter stages of TV events and has lost nine of his ten quarter-finals in major tournaments. Noppert will be well aware of that and the Dutchman can be fancied here to continue his good form and put his name in the hat for Friday’s semi-finals.
