THE PREDICTION
Chris Dobey was all set to play his round one match against Adrian Lewis on Tuesday evening, but due to Jackpot’s Covid-19 test having returned as positive, Simon Whitlock now awaits Hollywood in the opening round on Wednesday night. Dobey is the type of player who will take the disruption in his stride and he will be raring to go having had an excellent run to the semi-finals on his World Grand Prix debut in 2019. Whitlock obviously hasn’t had much time to prepare for this tournament, which is far from ideal, but the Australian is a very experienced professional who will see this is a bonus opportunity and he comes here with no pressure. The Wizard is a former finalist at the Grand Prix but it’s worth noting that he has also lost in the first round on four occasions - including each of the last two years. Dobey looked very comfortable with the double start format last year, he is capable of hitting the ground running against Whitlock and is tipped to move through to round two with a strong performance.
