THE PREDICTION

Stephen Bunting has been an ever-present at the World Grand Prix since 2014 when he reached the semi-finals on his tournament debut. The St. Helens’ thrower has had little to cheer about at the Grand Prix since that run to the final four, however, as he has only won two matches in five subsequent appearances. Jamie Hughes made his Grand Prix debut last year when he was ousted in round one by the eventual champion Michael van Gerwen after winning the first set. Yozza has fond memories of playing Bunting in a stage environment due to his win in the final of the Czech Open in June 2019, though Bunting won their last encounter in July of this year. It’s hard to pick a winner in what looks like a very evenly-matched contest and over 2.5 sets is the betting tip.

Edit: Stephen Bunting has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be replaced by Jeffrey de Zwaan
