THE PREDICTION
Jamie Hughes was originally scheduled to face Stephen Bunting in round one, but due to the man from St. Helens having to withdraw due to a positive Covid-19 test Jeffrey de Zwaan has been called in as a late replacement. The Dutchman might not have had much time to prepare for this game, but he does have experience of this tournament having reached the second round in each of the last two years so he is familiar with the double start format. In fact, even more so than Hughes who made his Grand Prix debut last year when he was ousted in round one by the eventual champion Michael van Gerwen after winning the first set. This is a tough match to predict as a genuine case can be made for either player, there is a good chance it will go the distance and so over 2.5 sets looks like a good betting option.
