For a player of his ability and ranking Gerwyn Price has a pretty poor record at the World Grand Prix with three first round exits in five appearances. However, the Welshman comes into the 2020 edition full of belief having won three tournaments last month - including the World Series of Darts Finals - and he looks set for a good run this week in Coventry. Wattimena can take confidence from his quarter-final showing at the Grand Prix 12 months ago, but he will struggle to repeat that feat with Price standing in his way in round one. This most probably won’t be as one-sided as when Price won 7-0 against the Dutchman on the Premier League stage in August, but a repeat win for the Iceman is still on the cards.
