Gary Anderson made light of his lack of competitive action over the last month to defeat Rob Cross in straight sets in round one. The Flying Scotsman settled straight into the game with some impressive arrows in the opening set, and although his level of performance dipped in the second set it was still a controlled display. Standing in the way of a place in the quarter-finals for Anderson is Danny Noppert who came from behind to defeat Ryan Searle in the opening match of the tournament. Noppie is a very accomplished performer who certainly will not roll over for the two-time World Champion, one feels that this has the potential to be a fascinating match in which Anderson will be pushed all the way before eventually claiming victory in the fifth set.
