LEIGHTON BENNETT

• Leighton Bennett is the reigning BDO World Youth Champion having won the title in 2019 with a 3-0 win against Nathan Girvan with an average of 86.64.
• 14-year-old Bennett made history earlier this week by becoming the youngest ever player to compete at the men’s BDO World Championship. He went on to exit the tournament in round one against the 2015 BDO World Champion Scott Mitchell.
• Bennett has been competing on the senior BDO tour this season with some good results under his belt and he reached one final and five further semi-finals during 2019.

KEANE BARRY

• Irish teenager Keane Barry has enjoyed a very successful season which includes claiming the JDC World Darts Championship, Tom Kirby Irish Matchplay, Northern Ireland Matchplay and World Youth Masters titles.
• Barry had a match average of 93 in his 5-3 win against Adam Gawlas in the JDC World final at Ally Pally in December, whilst he also posted an impressive average of 91.44 in his victory against Charlie Manby in the final of the World Youth Masters in October.
• His triumph at the Tom Kirby Irish Matchplay saw him earn a place at the PDC World Championship for the first time. He went on to lose 3-0 to Vincent van der Voort but gave a good account of himself, shown in his average of just under 92.

THE PREDICTION

Leighton Bennett and Keane Barry both have very bright futures ahead of them and this has the potential to be an excellent game between two talented young stars who have recently made their senior World Championship debuts. It would be no surprise to see them average in the 90s as they hopefully bring out the best in each other on this big occasion. At this stage in their fledgling careers, Barry’s performances have just been a little more consistent than Bennett’s and the Irish youngster is predicted to claim the title.
