THE PREDICTION

Nathan Aspinall’s ambitions of another good run at Ally Pally are still alive but the number six seed is perhaps fortunate to still be in the tournament as he survived four match darts and recovered from a two-set deficit to win an enthralling tussle against Scott Waites 3-2. The Asp will hope for less drama this time out, but he faces a tough game against experienced Dutchman Vincent van der Voort who won through in five sets against his fellow countryman Ron Meulenkamp in the previous round. The rapid Dutch thrower certainly has the ability to make this game difficult for his higher-ranked opponent and Aspinall is going to have to dig deep once again if he is to prevail. The man from Stockport does not shirk a battle though, his belief and determination to win will play a big part in getting him over the line here.
