THE PREDICTION
A match between Gary Anderson and Mensur Suljovic brings back memories of the 2018 World Matchplay final – won by Anderson 21-19 – and also the 2017 Champions League of Darts final – which was won 11-9 by Suljovic. Both of those games were thrilling encounters and hopefully we will see another enthralling tussle here in the third round at Ally Pally. It has to be said that neither of the pair have been playing as consistently well as they were around the time of those aforementioned meetings but that does not mean to say that we won’t see an entertaining game. When it comes to picking a winner of the game, what cannot be ignored is that Anderson certainly has the edge in terms of World Championship pedigree as he has won the title twice and reached the final on two other occasions, while Suljovic has never even reached the last eight which is something he is very much aware of. The Austrian’s wait for a quarter-final appearance at the PDC World Championship is tipped to continue, as a win for Anderson is the predicted outcome.
