2017 BDO World Championship finalist Danny Noppert has progressed steadily up the rankings since he switched to the PDC but it could be said that his performances in the major tournaments have been underwhelming for a player of his ability. Noppie’s hopes of a good run here have been boosted by the fact that he has a favourable second round tie against South Aftican qualifier Cameron Carolissen who received a bye into this round after Martijn Kleermaker was forced to withdraw due to a positive Covid-19 test. This is by far the biggest game of Carolissen’s darting career and although he will enjoy the occasion he is tipped to fall to a straight sets defeat against the Dutchman.
