THE PREDICTION

Dimitri Van den Bergh has progressed through to the last 16 with minimum fuss as he didn’t drop a set against Paul Lim or Jermaine Wattimena in his previous two games. The 2020 World Matchplay champion is likely to face a much tougher challenge against Dave Chisnall though in what should be a high-scoring encounter. Although Chizzy can be erratic, there can be no doubt that he has formidable scoring power when he finds his range and he notched an impressive total of 11 180s in the process of defeating Danny Noppert in the third round on Tuesday evening. Chisnall will certainly need to produce more of the same here, but even that may not be enough against an opponent who has proven that he has what it takes to win a major tournament. The young Belgian oozes class and composure on the big stage and when it comes down to the key moments in this game he is likely to prevail.
