THE PREDICTION

Ron Meulenkamp is aiming to make it a hat-trick of opening round victories at the PDC World Championship having won his first round match in each of the last two years. If the Dutchman is to make it three in a row though he will have to overcome a player who he was defeated by in their only previous meeting. Boris Krcmar is a much improved player since he lost in a preliminary round match against Per Laursen on his only previous appearance at Alexandra Palace ten years ago and he has certainly been competitive on the PDC circuit this season after winning his tour card in January. Krcmar is the outsider in the betting in this game but it wouldn’t be a big surprise if he upset those odds to reach round two.
