THE PLAYERS

GLEN DURRANT

  • The three-time BDO world champion Glen Durrant has had a very impressive season since moving across to the PDC at the start of 2019 and this is another tournament in which he will be keen to showcase his skills.
  • Back in February, Duzza progressed to the final in only his second tournament since making the switch from the BDO and then a week later he claimed his first PDC title – and has since added to that tally.
  • Durrant had a tremendous World Matchplay debut where he defeated PDC World Champion Michael van Gerwen along with multiple major winners James Wade and Adrian Lewis on his way to the semi-finals and his confidence is high coming into this event.

KRZYSZTOF RATAJSKI

  • Krzysztof Ratajski is making his World Grand Prix debut following some fantastic results on the PDC tour over the last couple of years.
  • Polish star Ratajski has won multiple PDC ranking titles and comes to Dublin just a week after making history by becoming the first Polish player to win on the Euro Tour when he triumphed at the Gibraltar Darts Trophy.
  • He does have history of defeating Durrant in a big TV tournament when they met in the quarter-finals of the 2017 Winmau World Masters in the BDO with Ratajski winning 4-2 on his way to capturing the title.

THE PREDICTION

This is one of the ties of the round with the in-form Ratajski full of confidence after his win on the Euro Tour facing the very talented Durrant who will be eager to impress again in a PDC TV tournament following his run at the Matchplay. Neither player has featured at the World Grand Prix before so it will be fascinating to see how they adapt to the unique format. In what should be a high-quality affair, Duzza might just have the edge in a three-set thriller.
