- 2018 Grand Slam champion Gerwyn Price comes into the tournament in good form having recently added to his collection of ranking tournament wins at the International Darts Open on the Euro Tour in September.
- Welshman Price is making his fifth appearance at the Grand Prix and had his best showing in 2018 when he reached the quarter-finals, losing 3-2 to Mensur Suljovic having earlier led 2-1.
- The Iceman reached the semi-finals at the UK Open in March but suffered a big disappointment at the World Matchplay where he lost an epic round one encounter against Stephen Bunting.

- Dave Chisnall has been an ever-present at the World Grand Prix since 2011 and he reached his first major PDC final here in 2013 when he lost to Phil Taylor after earlier defeating Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-finals.
- He has a very good record at making it through round one at the World Grand Prix with only one opening round defeat in his last seven appearances in Dublin.
- Chizzy has had a successful year on tour with multiple ranking tournament wins and came close to winning his second European Tour title of the year when he reached the final in Gibraltar last weekend.
