Gloucestershire made hard work of it, but managed to chase down 125 with two wickets remaining and five balls to spare, edging past Surrey to record a second win in the group stage, delighting their home crowd in the process. Whilst it wasn’t pretty, such a victory against a strong team is likely to galvanise them moving forward and Middlesex at home represents the perfect opportunity to back that up. It’s been a shambolic campaign so far for the visitors, who are simply not up to the standard of all their South Group companions. Five losses from five and a net-run-rate of almost -2.000 tells you everything you need to know. Back Gloucestershire to triumph and complete a home London double in the space just three days.

KENT SPITFIRES vs SURREY
THE PREDICTION
Surrey put up a good fight after recording a well below-par away at Gloucestershire last time out, but ultimately defend such a low score, losing off the last over. This side is made a strong stuff though with plenty of experienced international stars and you’d expect them to come back strongly against Kent Spitfires. Since winning their first game, the Spitfires have lost each of their last three with their bowlers underperforming and key players such as Sam Billings woefully out of form. This seems like the ideal fixtures on paper for Surrey and they should get back on track by completing a T20 Blast double over their oldest rival.

SOMERSET vs ESSEX EAGLES
THE PREDICTION
Essex Eagles’ 100% record in the 2023 T20 Blast went down in a ball of flames on Friday night as they were thrashed by James Vince’s Hampshire Hawks at Chelmsford, Vince striking a majestic century. Unfortunately for Essex, it’s hard to see them bouncing back at the first time of asking with a trip to Somerset on the horizon. Unlike the Eagles, Somerset still retain their 100% record in the South Group and with five wins from five, look a truly formidable unit. Essex’s record at Taunton in the T20 Blast isn’t great and they are expected to be put to the sword in this one.

SUSSEX SHARKS vs GLAMORGAN
THE PREDICTION
A response was expected by Sussex Sharks on Saturday following their 25-run defeat at the hands of Essex Eagles this past Thursday night. Alas they didn’t get it, instead Hampshire Hawks thumped them by ten wickets, in what was a night to forget at the Ageas Bowl. They return to Hove here, taking on an underrated Glamorgan side. The Welsh County are on a roll at the moment, winning three of their first four T20 fixtures and with gun batter Colin Ingram in excellent form, it bodes well for them going into this one. The smart play would be to back an away win here.
