THE LOWDOWN

MULTAN SULTANS

  • Multan Sultans continued their excellent start to the Pakistan Super League as they maintained their 100% record with a fifth consecutive victory, getting the better of Peshawar Zalmi by a 57-run margin in their latest contest.
  • Mohammad Rizwan notched his highest score in this year’s competition so far with 82 from 53 balls while Tim David made it back-to-back half-centuries thanks to posting an unbeaten 51 with that duo helping the Sultans to a superb total of 222/3.

PESHAWAR ZALMI

  • Peshawar Zalmi suffered their third loss in their last five matches in the PSL to date as they were comfortably beaten by Multan Sultans and they have it all to do to reverse the form in this second clash with the table toppers.
  • Zalmi struggled to restrict the run-scoring of the Sultans and managed to take just three wickets as they were forced to chase down 223 for the win but they could only scramble their way to 165/8 despite Ben Cutting’s 52* from 31 deliveries.

THE PREDICTION

Multan Sultans are the team to beat in this year’s Pakistan Super League and having claimed a big win last time out against Peshawar Zalmi, they will be confident of repeating that feat to make it six straight wins. They enter the second half of the round robin stage with a 100% record to their name and with the likes of Mohammad Rizwan and Tim David performing so well in the last meeting between the two as well as during the tournament so far, the Sultans have to be favoured to record yet another victory.
