PARRAMATTA EELS FORM: EELS WIN FOR FIRST TIME IN SEVEN

With the prospect of finishing at the foot of the ladder, Parramatta claimed a much-needed win to end their losing streak at six matches. They got the better of New Zealand Warriors over the ditch and will aim to build on that success.

LAST FIVE: LLLLW

PENRITH PANTHERS FORM: PREMIERS MAKE IT FOUR STRAIGHT VICTORIES

Penrith secured a fourth successive victory as they got the better of Newcastle Knights but they made hard work of that triumph and will be aiming to put in a better display in this one.

LAST FIVE: LWWWW

PARRAMATTA EELS TEAM NEWS: SAME 17 FOR EELS

After claiming what was a rare success this season, it is unsurprising that the Eels have stuck with the same 17 that prevailed in New Zealand with Daejarn Asi aiming to build on his brilliant showing in the halfback position.

Starting 13: 1. Clinton Gutherson 2. Jake Tago 3. Will Penisini 4. Blaize Talagi 5. Sean Russell 6. Dylan Brown 7. Daejarn Asi 8. Reagan Campbell-Gillard 9. Brendan Hands 10. Wiremu Greig 11. PENRITH PANTHERS TEAM NEWS: LAURIE BACK ON DECK

It is a welcome return to the side for Daine Laurie who will slot in at fullback. First-choice #1 Dylan Edwards is still sidelined so Laurie coming in gives the Panthers a bit more experience with last week’s debutant Isaiah Longo dropping to the reserves.

Starting 13: 1. Daine Laurie 2. Sunia Turuva 3. Izack Tago 4. Casey McLean 5. Brian To'o 6. Jarome Luai 7. Nathan Cleary 8. Moses Leota 9. Mitch Kenny 10. Lindsay Smith 11. Scott Sorensen 12. PARRAMATTA EELS VS PENRITH PANTHERS PREDICTION

Parramatta Eels have nothing to lose here as they take on rivals Penrith Panthers. Last week’s win for the Eels gave them some breathing room at the bottom of the ladder with the pressure easing on them having looked to be right in the mix to finish with the wooden spoon. Reigning premiers Penrith have won their last four and are building nicely towards the finals but will want to produce a better performance than they managed against Newcastle Knights last week. However, they are capable of doing just that and they should control this contest.

PARRAMATTA EELS VS PENRITH PANTHERS TIP: PENRITH PANTHERS -10
