After beginning with three successive losses, the Dambulla Sixers have brought themselves back to life in the 2024 Lanka Premier League with back-to-back victories. They now face a Galle Marvels side that have the potential to be winners of this competition but have shown clear susceptibility through the middle-order.

DAMBULLA SIXERS FORM: DAMBULLA ON A ROLL
As mentioned, Dambulla started with three defeats from their opening three matches but the Sixers now come into this one on the back of an impressive chase against the Colombo Strikers, winning by eight wickets, before then dismantling the Galle Marvels and hammering them by 25 runs, taking all ten of the Marvels wickets.

GALLE MARVELS FORM: FINDING THE CONSISTENCY
That implosion against Dambulla is the reason why Galle will be concerned as we approach the playoffs because their ceiling is probably the highest of any team in the tournament but they have shown they can throw in an absolute disaster with the bat. Aside from that defeat, though, they have won four and lost one of their other five games.

DAMBULLA SIXERS BETTING ANALYSIS
The Dambulla Sixers were under pressure from the start of the tournament because they simply weren’t up to speed and were batting way too slowly. They were even slow in their defeat of Galle but it was their batting display against Colombo, making 188-2 in just 17.5 overs, that will encourage them. Kusal Perera is the absolute key man for the Sixers at the top of the order and backing him to be their top batter in the match is always the way to go pretty much.
With the ball, they have a lot of variety and that was shown by five players taking wickets against the Marvels. What is even more impressive is that all five bowlers were domestic players so being aware of the conditions is key. Colombo is expected to take turn so that should mean Dushan Hemantha, once again, is the key bowler for them with two or more wickets for the leggie a decent bet.
GALLE MARVELS BETTING ANALYSIS
The Galle Marvels have an extremely impressive top three of Niroshan Dickwella, Alex Hales and Tim Seifert. Beyond that there is not that much, which is where their glass jaw comes into the debate. That said, on a potentially turning track, scoring quickly will be key and, for that reason, backing Dickwella to get off to a flyer with a 30+ score would be a good shout.
In the bowling department, Galle have real variation of their own. Their key man, Maheesh Theekshana, has continued his underwhelming form from the ICC T20 World Cup so backing either Prabath Jayasuriya, given the likely conditions, to take two or more wickets, is the likelier option for this one.

About a week or so ago, it was a fairly reasonable suggestion that Dambulla would get the wooden spoon of finishing rock-bottom, whilst Galle were tournament favourites. Both of those things are still genuine and real possibilities but there has been a shift in form. That said, if any of Galle’s top three come off then they should overpower anyone in the tournament and they will like to think their ‘stinker’ has already happened so a Galle win is the likeliest outcome.
