THE TEAM NEWS

INDIA

  • India made it two wins from two to get the T20i series with Sri Lanka off to a great start and they will be eager to continue their winning streak as they face the tourists at HPCA Stadium for the second day in succession.
  • The hosts successfully chased down 185 to win in the second game, doing so by seven wickets and with 17 balls to spare which was largely thanks to Shreyas Iyer whose excellent start to the series continued with an unbeaten knock of 74 from just 44 deliveries.

SRI LANKA

  • Sri Lanka’s issues with the ball were laid bare once again as they succumbed to a heavy defeat in the second T20i against India despite producing a good total with the bat with a score of 183/5 a competitive score to defend.
  • Pathum Nissanka put his golden duck in game one behind him by top-scoring for the Sri Lankans with a score of 75 but four of their six bowlers went at over ten runs an over and the pressure is now firmly on them as they attempt to avoid a series whitewash.

THE PREDICTION

India produced another good display in the second T20i of the series against Sri Lanka and will be looking to wrap things up with another success in this final game to clinch a whitewash. The hosts were too good with the bat as they comfortably surpassed their target of 185 with plenty in hand and while Sri Lanka were much more competitive in the second game, their lack of quality with the ball was evident once again and it is unlikely that they will be able to salvage anything from this series.
