THE LOWDOWN

INDIA

  • India’s batting has been excellent throughout this series so far and they continued in this vein last time out, racking up 237/3 batting first, a total unsurprisingly beyond South Africa despite the Proteas’ best efforts.
  • Every batter contributed for the hosts with each of the top four scoring over 43 runs whilst the odd man out, Dinesh Karthik finished on 17 not out from just seven balls, underlining the team effort and form across the entire top order.

SOUTH AFRICA

  • South Africa’s slow start when chasing a formidable 238 to win left them too much to do on Sunday, but the tourists certainly went down swinging, David Miller blasting a magnificent unbeaten 106 from 47 balls as part of an unbroken 174-run partnership with Quinton De Kock, who finished on 69 not out.
  • Pressure is starting to build on skipper Temba Bavuma, who was dismissed without scoring for a second consecutive T20i and is desperately in need of a good score in this game.

THE PREDICTION

Across the two T20i fixtures played so far in this series between India and South Africa, the home side have dominated proceedings with the bat, getting the better of a strong Proteas bowling attack and taking advantage of excellent batting conditions. That is expected to be the case once again here in this third match. India have a habit of getting off to good starts, which has been the difference between the two nations and with that in mind, it is well worth backing Rohit Sharma’s side to once again get the better of South Africa.
