THE TEAM NEWS

BANGLADESH

  • After sealing a historic series victory against Australia last time out, Bangladesh will now be seeking a 5-0 sweep with two matches to play in the space of just three days.
  • The Tigers managed a score of 127/9 on a tough pitch for batting, thanks mainly to a half century from captain Mahmudullah before their bowlers did an excellent job of strangling the Australian batters, leading them to a ten-run victory.
  • Despite having secured the series, Bangladesh won’t want to take their foot off the pedal as they continue their T20i World Cup preparation and will likely maintain their winning team.

AUSTRALIA

  • Whilst they may be nowhere near full strength, for Australia to go 3-0 down in this series is damning as to the quality of their squad depth, with the batting clearly the most pressing issue to address.
  • Once again, Mitchell Marsh was the only real standout player with the willow, scoring 51 as the tourists were restricted to 117/4 on a bowler-friendly track, failing to reach their target of 128.
  • Bowler Nathan Ellis had reason to celebrate after taking a hat-trick with the ball and he will surely get another opportunity to impress here alongside Ben McDermott, who scored 35 runs opening the batting.

THE PREDICTION

Australia have so far had no answer to the conditions in Bangladesh and the pitches that have proved incredibly challenging for batters. The hosts have taken full advantage and with the series already secured are riding the crest of a wave. Whilst the tourists can take a couple of positives from their last match such as Nathan Ellis’ hat-trick, ultimately their batting line-up have been unable to cope with the Bangladesh bowlers and it’s difficult to see that changing with such a fast turnaround between games. Therefore, it would be no surprise to see Bangladesh secure a fourth successive victory.
