THE LOWDOWN

NETHERLANDS

  • For the second ODI in a row, Netherlands put up a respectable total and this time came even closer to defending it after reducing the tourists to 60/4, however they could not sustain the pressure and only took one further wicket across the match.
  • When also taking into account that Netherlands were 148/4 before being reduced to 214 all out it was a real missed opportunity for the hosts, who saw all their players batting at number four or lower dismissed for single-figure scores.

WEST INDIES

  • West Indies were indebted to middle order batter Brandon King, who guided his side home excellently with a score of 91 not out, including an unbroken partnership of 118 with Keacy Carty to see his side home.
  • Akeal Hosein starred with the ball, taking four wickets, but it was centred around a team effort which saw five of the six bowlers utilised taking at least one wicket, something they’ll be looking to continue into the final game.

THE PREDICTION

The series has already been sealed by West Indies, but Netherlands will be desperate to gain a consolation victory, for both the home crowd and themselves as they build to a three-match ODI series with World Champions England later in the month. Netherlands have steadily improved across the two games so far and provided they can build on this, then the hosts have every chance of gaining that elusive win. The Windies meanwhile, boast the stronger team but could easily take their foot off the pedal slightly having wrapped up the series, so consider backing Netherlands to pull off what would be a hugely morale boosting victory.
