BANGLADESH

• Bangladesh return to one-day international action following a long break with a heavy focus on T20i matches during the last 12 months and they will hope to hit the ground running despite that.
• The Tigers have opted to name four uncapped players in their squad with Ebadot Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Yasir Ali and Mahmudul Hasan Joy all hoping to make their debuts in this format of the game.

AFGHANISTAN

• Afghanistan claimed a 3-0 whitewash against the Netherlands in their most recent ODI series and they will hope to build on that success on this trip to Bangladesh, although their squad has already had to overcome some COVID-19 related drama.
• The entire touring party was forced into isolation following some positive tests but they have since been cleared and that paves the way for Ibrahim Zadran to potentially come into the side in the top order but there is no place in the squad for Usman Ghani and Sharafuddin Ashraf.

THE PREDICTION

Bangladesh and Afghanistan will go head-to-head in an ODI series that neutrals will hope produces some tight matches. Afghanistan possess some real quality in their squad but that is more than matched by Bangladesh and the Tigers will be eager to mark their return to 50-over action with a strong performance in this opening game.
