• Sri Lanka are going to have to pick themselves back up after being destroyed by South Africa’s batters, who racked up an ICC World Cup record score of 428/5 against them, a total that was never going to be chased down after Sri Lanka lost four wickets inside the first 15 overs of their response.
• Sri Lanka have never beaten Pakistan in seven prior ICC Cricket World Cup meetings although they were victorious against Babar Azam’s side in the 2023 Asia Cup last month, winning by two wickets via the DLS method.

THE PREDICTION

Pakistan will no doubt see this as a golden opportunity to make it two wins from two against a side likely still reeling after that mauling at the hands of South Africa. It may well serve as a psychological advantage also to boast such a record vs Sri Lanka at this tournament. With lots of depth themselves down the order, Pakistan should take advantage of a Sri Lankan bowling attack clearly weakened by missing players and are well worth backing to gain victory again in this one.
