MELBOURNE STARS

• Melbourne Stars made it back-to-back victories in the Big Bash League thanks to seeing off Sydney Thunder for the second time in succession but this is the win they will be desperately hoping for as they take on Sydney Sixers.
• The Stars were humiliated in their opening game of the competition as they suffered a 152-run defeat against the Sixers so revenge will be very much on the agenda for the Melbourne outfit but they will need the likes of Andre Russell to carry on where he left off against the Thunder having whacked a match-winning 42 off 21 balls.

SYDNEY SIXERS

• Sydney Sixers suffered their first loss of this year’s BBL as they were on the end of a big loss to Hobart Hurricanes with their bowling unit unable to live with the quality of the opposition batsmen in that contest.
• The Hurricanes were able to post a huge score of 213/2 and despite Josh Philippe’s best efforts, the Sixers could not chase their reduced target because of the weather as they suffered a 44-run loss with pressure on the bowlers to respond after their poor showing last time out.

THE PREDICTION

Sydney Sixers recorded one of the most memorable victories in Big Bash League history when they destroyed Melbourne Stars to open this year’s competition and they will hope to make it seven straight wins against the Stars as they do battle once again. The Sixers come into this on the back of their first loss of the competition as they went down to Hobart Hurricanes and while the Stars have won their last two since that annihilation, the Sydney outfit will believe they have the beating of their opponents and can make an immediate return to winning ways on the back of their top order producing the goods with the bat.
