• Melbourne Renegades took full advantage of a weakened Brisbane Heat last time out, winning their opening match of the men’s BBL by 22 runs in Cairns.
• Andre Russell made a big impression on debut as the side’s star overseas player, the West Indian picking up a wicket after blasting 35 runs in the lower order to support captain Nic Maddinson, who made 87 opening the batting.

• On Friday, Sydney Thunder entered the T20 cricketing history books for all the wrong reasons after being bowled out for the pitiful score of just 15 by Adelaide Strikers, the lowest score not only in men’s BBL history, but in the history of T20 cricket.
• It could have been ever worse for the Thunder, who at one stage were 10/8 chasing 140 to win before the final two wickets added an extra five runs, but failed to prevent their side from the humiliating result.

THE PREDICTION

It’s important not to overreact regarding Sydney Thunder and their horror-show against the Strikers.
