THE TEAM NEWS

HOBART HURRICANES

  • Hobart Hurricanes made it three wins on the bounce as they produced an excellent performance with both bat and ball to condemn the Melbourne Renegades to a huge defeat last time out.
  • After posting 206/5 on the back of Ben McDermott’s 127 – his second century in succession – the Hurricanes backed that up with a solid all-round bowling effort as they skittled the Melbourne outfit for just 121 in reply.

BRISBANE HEAT

  • Brisbane Heat suffered a second loss in a row as they went down to Sydney Sixers leaving them with just two victories to their name at the halfway point of this year’s Big Bash League.
  • In a dramatic match that went to the final game of the contest, the Heat almost pulled off an unlikely win despite been bowled for 105 but they were unable to build on an excellent start with the ball having removed the dangerous Josh Philippe and James Vince to leave the Sixers at 0/2.

THE PREDICTION

Brisbane Heat showed signs of what they are capable of with the ball last time out against Sydney Sixers but it was their poor batting effort that ultimately cost them an unlikely victory. Their hopes of making the next stage of the competition will rely on a better second half of the round robin but this is a tough matchup against an in-form Hobart Hurricanes. The hosts have won their last three matches and with Ben McDermott producing the goods with back-to-back centuries, the Hurricanes have to be favoured once again to make it four successive victories.
