That knock broke the back of the first Test between the hosts and Pakistan in Perth, Australia eventually racking up 487. Such a score kept them firmly ahead of Shan Masood’s side across the rest of the match with the bowlers doing what they best, eventually dismissing Pakistan for 89 in the fourth innings, sealing a mammoth 360-run victory.

Pakistan will have known they were big underdogs ahead of the first Test and although they had moments in terms of potential openings, Australia slammed the door shut on each occasion. From the moment the Aussie top order began piling up the runs on Day 1, things looked bleak for Pakistan who were ultimately unable to prevent Australia’s batters from putting them to the sword. A fourth innings collapse only hastened the inevitable defeat.
THE PREDICTION
You’ll struggle to find a more special event in the cricketing calendar than the Boxing Day Test and once again, cricket fans will pack out the MCG to watch what should be a formality for Australia against a Pakistan side whom they are simply too far ahead of right now from a red ball perspective.
