WHO ARE THE LEADING MEDAL CONTENDERS?
This is a new event that was only contested for the first time at an Olympic Games in 2020, last summer, in Tokyo. The winner of the event last year was Kelsey Mitchell of Canada with Australia’s Kaarle McCulloch underperforming earlier in the event.
McCulloch has since retired so the door is wide open for the likes of Katy Marchant and the aforementioned Kelsey Mitchell to challenge for the gold medal.
