The reigning Commonwealth super featherweight champion Zelfa Barrett has won five consecutive bouts since he suffered the sole professional defeat of his 24-fight career against Ronnie Clark back in February 2018. Barrett won the Commonwealth belt on points against Lydon Woodstock in June 2019 and then successfully defended his title last October against Jordan McCorry.

Ireland’s Eric Donovan is unbeaten in 12 fights since he turned pro just over four years ago - the 34-year-old arrived late in the pro ranks following a successful amateur career. Despite his age and amateur pedigree he has less experience as a professional than Donovan and this is the biggest test of his professional career so far.

THE PREDICTION

Zelfa Barrett’s Commonwealth title is not on the line, but he should still be well motivated to put in a good performance in what is his debut as a fighter in the Matchroom stable. This looks to be a tricky fight for Barrett as Donavan is a well-schooled amateur with an unbeaten professional record coming into this bout, but despite all of that, this is still a step in class for the Irishman and Barrett is tipped to come out on top.
