THE LOWDOWN

Oleksandr Usyk (17-0, 13KOs) swept aside all before him in the cruiserweight division and he now has his sights set on claiming a world title at heavyweight - the Ukranian is the mandatory challenger for Anthony Joshua’s WBO heavyweight title. Considered one of the best pound-for-pound boxers on the planet, Usyk has not been in action since he defeated Chazz Witherspoon in his heavyweight debut last October and this is only his second bout since he stopped Tony Bellew in November 2018.

Dereck Chisora (32-9, 23KOs) looked to be on his way to retirement when he lost to Dillian Whyte for the second time in December 2018. However, Del Boy has put some life back into his career by winning three consecutive bouts and he has been rewarded with this high-profile fight against Oleksandr Usyk. Chisora certainly won’t be phased by his opponent as he has been in with some of the best heavyweights in recent years - but it’s worth noting that he has been defeated against the top-level fighters that he has faced.

THE PREDICTION

Having dominated the cruiserweight division, Oleksandr Usyk is now determined to make his mark in the heavyweight ranks. Standing in his way of a world title shot is the vastly-experienced Dereck Chisora who has been in the ring with some world class heavyweights during his career. Usyk is obviously untested at this weight, but he has the skill-set, movement and motivation to be a force to be reckoned with. Expect plenty of pressure from Chisora in the early stages of the bout, but when Usyk settles into his range he should be able to take control. The Ukranian star is tipped to eventually wear down Chisora resulting in a late-stoppage victory.

PREDICTION: Usyk to win in rounds 7-12
